Straight off of Riki Lake

Well its been an interesting weekend to say the least. I checked my myspace page for the first time in over a month and found the typical spam messages that everyone gets, but there was one that caught my eye. The main part of this message said:

I seen one picture of my brother Joe and he had a son and he was married, and he kind of looks like you, from what I can remember, but I might be totally off, please don't get werider out. I just wanted to meet my brother. and I think it might be you.

I was floored. Most of you know that my parents divorced when I was but a wee little baby and I have never truly known my biological father. He had contacted me a couple times in the last 8 years but nothing ever came of it. I pretty much realized that this man was not someone I wanted in my life, let alone around my children. One thing he did tell me though was that I had 2 sisters that wanted to meet me. But seeing as how our communications halted altogether I honestly felt I would never meet them.

But it turns out they found me!! I was a little skeptical at first, then I sauw this picture of Alisha

I then knew there was no doubt. She is like the 2nd prettiest person I know!
Anyway I had the honor of talking with my newfound siblings for the better part of an hour today and it filled my heart with so much joy. I can't wait till I can meet them in person.

Time: 5 minutes ago

Scene: Kolin and Ruiz wrestling in the living room.

Me: Guys, cut it out!

Ruiz: Oh come on! We are just playing!

Me: I don't care! And don't sit there and "come on" me!

J-Rod will get a kick out of this

Turns out that someone that Route 3 gigged with has hit the big time.
Well at least she is the I-tunes free download of the week.

I remember playing with Plumb on New Years Eve here in good ole DC. And I think Jared played with them again later when touring with Satellite Soul. We actually stole a promo idea from them ( I acutally dressed exactly like their drummer for one of our promo photos),

Good stuff, and pretty good song too... check it out.

Dodge City, KS – (March 30, 2006) The United States Basketball League’s (USBL) Dodge City Legend have signed 7’8” Sun Ming Ming, from China. The 2006 USBL season will be the first major competitive competition Ming Ming will face in his young career. Sun will give the Legend a rather large presence in the paint for the upcoming 2006 USBL season as he recovers from the medical conditions that threatened his life less than a year ago.

Sun was diagnosed with Acromegaly in June of 2005 and through a series of donations and loans was able to obtain the surgery needed for his condition. Ming Ming underwent the life saving surgery in Los Angeles to remove a tumor from his pituitary gland in September of 2005.

The Chinese National has been recovering and training in Ventura, CA. The successful surgery enabled Ming Ming to increase his strength, stamina, and speed over the past several months. With his recovery nearly complete, Ming Ming is looking forward to joining his new team in early April.

Legend General Manager and Head Coach, Dale Osbourne, is excited to welcome Sun as a member of the team. "The fans and team cannot wait for Sun to arrive. We feel that the USBL is the perfect opportunity for Sun to finally get on the basketball court and play the game he loves," stated Osbourne.

Sun is equally excited, "I am very happy and thankful to the people in Dodge City for this opportunity. I will always play hard and be a good team player. This has been a long process and it is still early in my career. I know I must continue to get faster and will put in the training necessary to accomplish my goals.” Although Ming Ming is focused at working toward his future as a professional basketball player, he has not forgotten those who helped him along the way, “I want to once again thank all the families from around the country that donated money toward my surgery. Your generosity will never be forgotten."

The defending 2005 USBL Champion Legend will begin their quest for another title on April 23 as they host the Nebraska Cranes. The Legend had a 4-2 record against the Cranes in 2005.

Dodge City, KS will also be home to the 2006 USBL Post-Season Championship tournament held June 23-25. All eight USBL teams will compete in the single elimination tournament to crown the next USBL Champion.

Visit www.legendhoops.com and www.usbl.com for more information on Sun Ming Ming, the Dodge City Legend, and the 2006 USBL Post-Season Championship.

"Broken Wind" premiere is here!!

Ganked from Imumpancy.com

Premiere Festivities
The Broken Wind Premiere is Saturday, January 14, 2006 at the Dodge City Civic Center, 2110 First Avenue, Dodge City, Kansas, 67801.

All festivities, food, and drink are included in the $25.00 ticket price! Copies of the movie on DVD and the soundtrack on CD will be available for purchase at the premiere.

6:45 pm - Doors open to the public for the premiere of Broken Wind at the Dodge City Civic Center.

6:45 pm - 7:30 pm - The Dodge City Community College Jazz Band will perform as people arrive. Under the direction of Mr. Chris White, the Jazz Band is a premiere musical group in Southwest Kansas. They will perform for 45 minutes before the show and during the intermission.

Use this time to meet the actors and the moviemakers as they mill about and also find your seat and get all the free popcorn and soda you desire! You won't find that at the regular movies!

7:30 pm - 7:45 pm - The moviemakers from Imum Pancy Pictures welcomes the audience and makes opening remarks about the process of making a movie about a windless Kansas. The speakers are Chris Pyle - Director, Sarah Schaeffer - Cinematographer, and Seth Eckelman - Executive Producer.

7:45 pm - 8:50 pm - The premiere of Broken Wind shown on a GIANT 33-foot screen presented by the Outdoor Cinema Network of Boulder, Colorado with full stereo sound and monster screen projection!

8:50 pm - 9:45 pm - Intermission! During intermission, we will feature coffee, soda, popcorn, and a huge selection of freshly made desserts by pastry expert Chuck Rehmert. Again, your ticket price includes dessert!

Also during intermission, more than 35 props from the movie you just saw will be exhibited featuring explanations of how they were made and who used them. See it on the screen, then see it in person!

Again, listen to the soulful sounds of the Dodge City Community College Jazz Band and take another opportunity to meet the actors and the moviemakers as the circulate through the crowd!

9:45 pm - 10:15 pm - The gag reel and outtakes. More popular than ever on the "DVD extras" section of movies are the outtakes! We made 'em, too, on Broken Wind. See the fun everyone had and the flub-ups that made us all laugh! There will be some behind-the-scenes footage as well!

It's a REAL movie.
Nearly two years ago, the idea for a motion picture came along when 3 friends were "just sittin' 'round." The premise for the picture was simple, but highly unlikely: a wind drought in Kansas. The notion that such a thing would happen is part of the humor, the friends always supposed. They had all braved the wind for years, and thought the whole idea was pretty ironic.

The first step was a script, which was penned over a couple of year's time. Then came everything that should follow: casting, procuring camera equipment, making props, battling schedules, shooting, editing, original music, test audiences, more editing, credits, and eventually, a premiere. The end result of hundreds of hours of work by nearly 40 people is, in a word, fun.

Made in Kansas
"Broken Wind" was shot on location primarily in Dodge City, KS. It also included locations in Coldwater and Cimarron, KS and outlying areas in Ford County. What's more, the stars of the show are Kansans, as are the moviemakers. And, the premiere takes place... where else? In Kansas! We figure that only Kansans would understand the ludicrous idea that the wind would every stop blowing on the High Plains.

A film that doesn't blow?
Broken Wind is the story of Zeke, a wind farmer in Kansas. He is plagued by a number of things, the worst of which is a wind drought... in Kansas, no less! To keep the family afloat, a desperate Zeke gets in debt to the Norwegian mafia, most notably, Vinnie "The Plow" Olafson. Now the family farm's turbines don't blow, Zeke isn't making any money, but Vinnie and his henchmen have still come to collect.

And Zeke's wife, Mariah, is no support. Obsessed with Wheel of Fortune, Mariah is preoccupied with all things spelled and, instead of bailing out her husband, opts to start a business with her friend, Ricky. Poor Zeke is left to fend for himself.

Meanwhile, Zeke's son, Sajak, is leading a life of darkness... literally.

Things do not improve for the good Zeke when he enlists the help of Willie - a man better known for his crackpot inventions and intentions than his sound advice.
